More than 200 Conroe ISD teachers are receiving pay raises from this incentive program
Six years after state legislators created a path for high-performing teachers to earn raises and in some cases six-figure salaries, Conroe ISD has expanded its program to include more than 200 educators and is looking to add more campuses and teachers. Terral Jackson, Teacher Incentive Allotment Program coordinator for Conroe ISD, said the district has 26 campuses and 267 teachers participating in the incentive program designed to recruit and retain teachers at economically disadvantaged campuses view article
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Social Media Threats Against Willis ISD Schools
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of several social media threats circulating in reference to Willis Independent School District (WISD) schools. While local law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the situation, no credible threats have been identified at this time. Zavalla ISD cancels classes on Monday due to water issues
Zavalla ISD has announced classes will not be held on monday due to lack of water, after the City of Zavalla Public Water System reported a leak. Zavalla issued a boil notice on Sunday due to a water leak that caused the system to lose pressure. The city has said they are working to fix the issue promptly. view article

Conroe ISD instructional aide, former football star accused of sexually assaulting a child
Former Conroe ISD football standout and district paraprofessional KeSean Carter was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child following an investigation at Oak Ridge High School. Carter, 24 of Willis, was being held in Montgomery County Jail on no bond. According to an email from Oak Ridge High School Principal Shawn Almond to parents, Carter worked as a substitute teacher from January through May and as a paraprofessional from Aug. 21 to Sept. 16, when he was suspended while the Conroe Police Department investigated allegations against him. view article
Houston ISD reverses decision, allows Waltrip HS band to perform at Sugar Bowl
Houston ISD has reversed its decision to not allow the Waltrip High School band to perform at the 2025 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans after Houston Mayor John Whitmire offered a police escort for the band. The band was one of five national teams selected to perform at the 2025 Sugar Bowl and parents and students had been fundraising for the trip. view article
Fort Worth ISD remains a C-rated district after TEA review of A-F scores
The Fort Worth Independent School District’s C rating remains unchanged after state education officials asked the district to re-check its math on self-calculated A-F scores it released last week. Fort Worth ISD leaders released A-F accountability ratings for each campus, as well as the district as a whole, ahead of the district’s Sept. 10 board workshop. District leaders said they calculated those ratings using the Texas Education Agency’s formula. But the district did so without first confirming their numbers with TEA, which is barred from releasing official ratings under a court order. On Tuesday, a week after releasing the grades publicly, Fort Worth ISD submitted its self-calculated scores to TEA for review. The agency flagged a number of areas where the district’s figures differed from TEA’s. Because of the court order, TEA officials couldn’t say publicly what the issues were.
