Tiger Family,

We are excited to announce that Terrell ISD Board of Trustees selected Dr. Georgeanne Warnock as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools during a special meeting on Tuesday, November 19. Dr. Warnock currently serves in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD as the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services.

“I am incredibly honored to serve as the next Terrell ISD Superintendent of Schools, and I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for the opportunity,” Warnock said. “We will continue to build excellence and innovation for each child in Terrell with collaboration, community partnerships, family engagement, and a ‘students first’ mindset. There is a rich legacy and tradition in Terrell, and a bright future ahead. With great enthusiasm, we look forward to joining the Terrell community.”

Dr. Warnock holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Trinity University, a Master of Education in Secondary Education from the University of North Texas, a Master of Education in Education Administration from the University of North Texas and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.

Her 21-year tenure in education has been spent faithfully serving the students and families of Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Prior to beginning her current role as Associate Superintendent in 2013, Dr. Warnock served as the Principal for R.L. Turner High School for four years, Associate Principal for R.L. Turner High School for three years, Assistant Principal for Creekview High School for two years, and an English and Social Studies teacher for Creekview High School for five years.

“I, as well as the other board members, are confident in Dr. Warnock’s ability to continue to lead the District towards a path of innovation and student success,” Dena Risinger, Terrell ISD School Board President shared. “We are incredibly impressed with Dr. Warnock’s vision, academic expertise, and student-first mindset. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, and we look forward to her joining our fantastic leadership team. We are extremely pleased with the advances Terrell ISD has made over the last six years, and we take this next step with full assurance that the best is yet to come.”

The Terrell ISD school board received 43 applications for the position. The board of trustees narrowed down the candidates over the past month, holding special meetings to review applications and conduct interviews.

By law, Texas school districts are required to name a lone finalist for Superintendent 21 days prior to finalizing the decision. Dr. Warnock is expected to begin on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Dr. Warnock is married to Matt Warnock and the couple has four children: Connor 18, Mitchell 18, Matthew 15, Caden 11.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Warnock and her family to the Tiger Family.
