Board approves Superintendent contract extension
The South San Antonio Independent School District Board of Trustees, approved a two-year contract extension for Superintendent Dr. Marc Puig during a special meeting held on May 12th.
According to Board President Gilbert Rodriguez, South San ISD has a genuine, sincere, and committed leader in Dr. Puig. “What this young man has done is extraordinary in the short time that he’s been here,” explained Rodriguez. He added “All successful school districts have one thing in common: a tenured school board and a tenured Superintendent.” The contract extension will enable Puig to lead the School District through the 2024-2025 year.
During Dr. Puig’s first year at South San ISD, new elementary magnet programs have been added and much needed facilities repairs were addressed throughout the District. He has also begun a collaborative visioning process, developed strategic staffing initiatives, and implemented comprehensive safety protocols to ensure the well-being and protection of all students and staff throughout the pandemic. Puig has also made a commitment to good governance alongside the Board of Trustees.
“I’m honored to have the support of the Board and I deeply appreciate their vote of confidence,” said Dr. Puig. “Great things are ahead for South San ISD, and I look forward to working with the board to continue seizing the future for our students.”
