The Canutillo ISD school board took several votes Tuesday to approve changes across several departments and cut staff, including teachers, librarians, nurses and administrative employees.

New Caney ISD, Greater East Montgomery County Chamber partner to host student job fair
New Caney ISD juniors and seniors will get the opportunity to meet with potential employers at the Career Kickstart NCISD Student Job Fair on April 25. In partnership with the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, the job fair will give local businesses seeking seasonal help, interns or entry-level candidates the opportunity to conduct on-the-spot interviews with high school juniors and seniors, according to information included in the event registration form.

Superintendent Karen Molinar’s plan impacts instructional coaches on school campuses. These are the people who help train teachers to better help students succeed. Now, those coaches will be required to teach in the classroom and work directly with students. They’ll still work to coach their peers but will also have to do hands-on work in the classroom.

North Texas superintendent, 2 educators arrested after video of alleged child abuse surfaces
The Millsap ISD superintendent and two former faculty members were arrested after a video surfaced showing educators allegedly abusing an autistic child in a classroom.
Superintendent Edie Martin, 44-year-old Jennifer Dale and 25-year-old Paxton Kendal Bean were arrested Thursday. Martin and Bean have since bonded out of jail. Dale is currently in the Palo County Jail and being held on a $2,500 bond.

Former Itasca ISD Head Baseball Coach Adrian Buruato was arrested on Wednesday, March 12, by the Hill County Sheriff's Office following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving a female student, Itasca ISD said.
On Monday, March 10, Itasca ISD personnel and the Itasca ISD School Resource Officer (SRO) from the Hill County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the student. According to Itasca ISD, the alleged assault happened while Buruato was employed by Itasca ISD.

Fort Worth ISD employee arrested for improper relationship with student at previous employer, authorities say
A Fort Worth ISD employee was arrested Wednesday for having an improper relationship with a student while working at Itasca ISD as a head baseball coach and junior high history teacher, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Hill County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), on Monday, March 10, they received a complaint of an improper relationship between Adrian Buruato, 29, and an Itasca ISD student, who was 15 years old at the time, during the 2023-2024 school year.

Fifteen teachers at Jarrell Independent School District received the surprise of a lifetime Monday morning when they were awarded checks totaling $170,000 as part of a state program designed to retain top educators. The awards, distributed through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program established by the Texas Education Agency, included individual checks as high as $23,000. Caudo III, 33, a police officer with the Midway ISD Police Department, and former Waco Police Department officer, was charged after he struck a woman in the face, resulting in the victim suffering a bleeding ear, arrest warrants state. Caudo is charged with assault-strangulation and assault-family violence, per court documents. KWTX has confirmed he is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
