Statement from United ISD On Random Search At United South High School
The Webb County Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the United I.S.D. Police Department and a Multi-Agency Law Enforcement Task Force, conducted a random search at United South High School this morning. This sweep was done to insure identification and elimination of illegal drugs or weapons on campus. During this time, the school was in “stay in place” mode, meaning that students, faculty and staff members remained in their designated classroom/designated areas until the search was finished. Individuals were not allowed inside the campus or leave the building.
At the conclusion of the sweep, NO weapons were found at the campus and only a small amount illegal substances were found.
The Webb County Attorney’s Office has been conducting these random sweeps at campuses since last year in an effort to keep all educational environments safe for students.
Each sweep is well-coordinated and with all local, state, federal law enforcement entities.
When these random procedures are conducted at the campuses, United ISD asks for the cooperation of parents and the community in their pursuit of a safe environment that will be conducive to learning for all students.
