Armed security officer fired after leaving gun in Arlington elementary bathroom
An armed school security officer for Arlington Independent School District was fired after forgetting their gun belt in a school bathroom. The incident happened at Jones Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language on Tuesday afternoon. Parents were notified about the incident in a letter. According to a spokesperson for the school district, “All armed campus security officers are contracted by the district to carry out their services. Jones Academy is staffed by Tier One.” view article

An Alief Independent School District high school was placed in lockdown after a student was caught waving around a kitchen knife in the hallway, according to the district. Alief ISD police responded to Elsik High School during the lockdown. The Fort Worth ISD school board met Tuesday to discuss Superintendent Angélica Ramsey’s performance. The board met in executive session, meaning the meeting was private and behind closed doors, with lawyers and without Ramsey. All the district revealed in advance of the meeting was that the board would be discussing Dr. Ramsey's performance. Lorena ISD cancels classes after city-wide electrical surge damaged equipment at some facilities
The Lorena Independent School District on Tuesday morning released all students early after several reports of smoke at three of its four schools. The Lorena Fire Department confirmed the smoke at the schools was caused by a city-wide power surge that damaged the schools’ AC units. City, Brownsville ISD move forward with zoo expansion
The city of Brownsville, Gladys Porter Zoo and the Brownsville Independent School District are moving forward to enhance the zoo’s future as a world-class attraction and to relocate BISD’s Cummings Career and Technical Education Center. Following unanimous approval by the city and BISD, an amended and restarted inter-local agreement has been enacted that includes a lease agreement and real estate contract for the former Cummings Middle School property adjacent to Dean Porter Park and across Ringgold Street from the zoo. view article
Killeen ISD Names New Deputy Superintendent
Killeen ISD has named Dr. Terri D. Osborne its new deputy superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and School Leadership. The Board of Trustees approved Osborne’s appointment at a meeting Tuesday morning.
